17. Mai - Norwegian National Day

Norway is a quite young nation (1814), and our celebration of our Constitution Day is full of national pride.  The celebration differs from most countries, since there’s no displays of military power with military parades. The celebration is all about the children. Hopefully they get a reminder of the importance of democracy and freedom. With flags, national clothes called "bunad" and march band school kids  has parades shouting Hurra!  Small towns and villages have often people’s parade following the kids parade.

After the parade the celebration continue with ice-cream, hotdogs and traditional games (extras).

If you are going to visit Norway in May, I recommend to experience 17. May in Oslo.

Hurray!
