After the rains .....

In AliceSprings now, after the thunder lightning and buckets of rain yesterday. Unreal!!!
There’s actually water in the Todd River!
The locals everywhere are exclaiming “have you seen that there’s water in the river!” So I had to go and look. It’s actually flowing on the other side.

We leave for our expedition tomorrow, travelling into the Western Deserts. We’ll cross into Western Australia , then make our way to Kiwikurra by Day 5. There we’ll make contact with our indigenous guides, some ‘first contactors’, who were born and raised out in the desert - the Pintubi Nine - you might like to Google that. So lucky! They will demonstrate their deep affinity with their country and how to survive.

We will visit aboriginal artists there, then travel north through to Lake Mackay, the 2nd largest salt lake in Australia.
And that’s only Day 6! Eight more to go - travelling through vast remote country to Balgo Pound, and gradually back to Alice Springs by 31May.
See you later!
