The Liberty Sisters

We're always on the lookout for interesting bands that will suit the format of our outdoor gig at Happy Valley. We knew we'd done well this year when the Liberty Sisters who are fans of the Bishopsteignton Commitments, expressed interest. You have to remember that this is all for charity and no-one gets paid. They're a trio of vocalists, Ruby, Rose and Dolly (and I mustn't forget Daisy the dog) doing mostly 30s and 40s swing numbers a la Glen Miller - Andrews Sisters. They have their vintage American truck which is fitted out with all the gear they need to perform and they're excellent singers with great harmonies. You can see them in action here with a couple of the Lindy Hoppers (I think) who were enjoying their music.

They did a great set and warmed the crowd up nicely for our set. The weather was great and we all had a good time. We don't sell tickets for this gig, we just send buckets round and persuade people to empty their purses and wallets into them. All we need now is to find out how much money we've made for Rowcroft Hospice.
