Our plans for the morning had to change quickly when we realised, because of the Brathay marathon, one of the roads we wanted to use was closed. Then they changed again due to marathon traffic and again 5 miles later when we discovered that the road to Newby Bridge was closed for the event too. Should have known that.

Instead of a walk we had a pleasant drive (on surprisingly quiet roads) enjoying the scenery of the South Lakes.

In the afternoon I walked to Waterhead. Photos of the runners were disappointing (focus issues I think) so here's a view to the Wateredge Hotel jetty and beyond.
