Come Hell or High Water

Torbay from the car park above Debenhams where we did last minute shopping while waiting for son number two to arrive by train from the North West.

Thanks to modern communications we followed his progress like a parcel with a tracking device, experiencing every delay, newsflash, change of train, and diversion. The end of the line was at Taunton, where because of flooded tracks, he transferred to a coach which took him to Exeter. Because of a landslide at Teignmouth he then got on another coach which meandered around the coast to Newton Abbot, delivering him into the bosom of his family outside Newton Abbot Station, seven hours after he set off, straight after working all night.

Thanks to First Great Western, and coach drivers for overcoming hell and high water to get him across the flood stricken country. Good service, well done.
