Powerstock Nature Reserve Dorset

The Bird Walk today was in one of my favourite parts of a Dorset - out beyond Kingcombe and near Toller Porcorum and Powerstock Common .
Once the sun came out we were treated to some special displays of wildlife including a marsh fritillary butterfly, a grimy skipper and a dingy skipper butterfly . Sadly all flitting about too quickly to photograph. There were also rare long horned bees which were amazing .

There is a pond just off the old railway track where we spent ages watching all three species of newts including a great crested one which I have never seen before .
