Igneous rock

In the form of pumice. Usually produced in undersea volcanic eruptions where the rapid cooling solidifies the rock trapping the gas bubbles. The pumice can then form massive rafts that float around causing a hazard to shipping until they break up or sink. This piece was probably dug out of the ground as it was commercially packaged. Entry for Tiny Tuesday theme mineral hosted by ninniex.
