Smokey 0941 hr (Tuesday 21st May 2019)

Quite a busy day today including trips to a friend, the recycling centre and Sainsbury's - plus it was Gardening Tuesday this afternoon. No pictures taken, apart from some front yard Smokey shots in the morning before I went out.

Will be out all day tomorrow so probably won't get a chance to blip before Friday or Saturday as I expect to be taking quite a few shots.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Spencer Davis Group - I'm A Man (1967)
This was the last single by the band that featured Stevie Winwood, their lead singer, guitarist and keyboard player. He left to "get it together" in the countryside and form Traffic and it is rumoured that it is members of his new band playing on this record. It isn't the Muddy Waters or Bo Diddley song but an original composition by Steve Winwood and their producer Jimmy Miller.
I loved it at the time and played on my tiny record player over and over. It reached no. 9 in the British charts but wasn't on an album as the next Spencer Davis Group album had the new line up (in the US an album cash-in called I'm A Man was cobbled together by United Artists of random previously released material and both sides of the new single).
I've just acquired a compilation of singles released in 1967 including this track. The album is entirely in mono as the authentic single masters have been used but I discovered today that, unlike the British single on Fontana, the slightly shorter US single was actually in stereo - and this is it.
