Late Winter

Escaped to the forest to avoid the worst of the wind & rain. The dandelions have all closed up.

On the left, halfway up the hill is a field of what looks to me like "Winter Barley" which is much too high & has been badly knocked over. This crop is to be seen in lots of places in the parish, I think all on maize fields that were harvested in autumn. I keep meaning to ask a farming friend if this is some form of catch crop/soil improver or whether it is a failure due to a too warm winter. These fields are so badly damaged that they could never be harvested with a combine.

Above the field, a small enclosed compound of deer kept by a friend & now retired hunter responsible for the area who has handed over the job to another friend Johannes who has been Bliped a few times. The territory includes two sides of our triangular property, the third side is the responsibility of Johannes' boss & State Forestry manager. The road in the Blip is the border of another hunting area, the one I am photographing from belongs to friend MrB.
