Copenhagen and Me.

Knight At The Opera

Denmark's biggest tax dodge, or The Opera House, was commissioned by the country's richest man as a present to the Queen. Directly opposite the royal residence and in a prominent position in the town, you can't miss this beast. The project is accused of plagiarism and was seriously over budget, on the other hand Mr Mærsk (Mærsk shipping) didn't take advice from anyone and didn't really like music anyway.

Summed up nicely by architect Holger Dahl  like this;
"Unmotivated, unmistakable and unsightly - with the weird, strangely curved grille as a signature and everlasting reminder that a lot of money doesn't necessarily get you good architecture."

Mærsk was knighted around this time …..hence the title.
