Rotten Day

We even managed to get the only hail storm of the day during the evening walk. Musn't complain Mother Nature needs the rain so badly. At Easter the weather people were reporting the ground is already as dry as it was in July 2018.

The State Forestry has brought in contractors to clear up all the damaged trees, it seems to me to be mainly ones that simply snapped in half during the winter in which we had no spectacular storms. So many of these trees are very young ones, less than 20cm thick. There are very few large trees that have been uprooted. The cause seems to be that they are simply totally dried out & have lost their elasticity.

So this 2015 built Swedish H11C Rottne Harvester will not be doing the classical "harvesting" but more clearing work. In due course, the forwarder will be called in to collect all the timber.

According to the Swedish company, their machines are officially sold by the UK's largest timber contractor, Jim Wilmer & sons of Ayrshire, Scotland but the logo doesn't appear on their webpage of brands sold. Perhaps when Scotland is back in the EU.
