More exploring

Didn’t sleep well, although T did, but up early to meet BH and go to a local wet market for a browse. All very neat and clean, unlike some local markets I’ve seen on my travels! We went upstairs for breakfast and certainly tried stuff we wouldn’t otherwise have - rice paste half moons with a chilli radish sauce on top, followed by sort of churros and a black sticky rice sort of porridge, along with local coffee. Chatted about health care, governments, pensions and other comparators between UK and SIngapore, then she drove us to Chinatown and we browsed Smith St and bought souvenirs and visited the Temple of the tooth of the Buddha all the while dripping in the heat and humidity. Went to Maxwell’s food market as I remembered that from my last trip but despite everything (well most things) looking tempting we just weren’t hungry - the heat I guess - so we just had a coconut to drink the water and then another iced drink then headed back to the hotel. It was so lovely to have a swim and relax with a beer for a couple of hours.
Afterwards we felt refreshed enough to get changed and head down to the Gardens by the Bay and see the flower domes. Had some food there then over to the bar at the top of the National Gallery to watch the light show over the bay (not actually that impressive I didn’t think, but nevertheless a great nighttime city skyline view) before picking up a t-shirt for Kt on a busy Clarke Quay - looking very much more lively than when we were here in the afternoon the other day!
Taxi back home...needed to check in and try and get good seats on the plane for tomorrow. Not too late a night and hoping for sleep!
