Grackle Leap

It's not obvious, but this common grackle is hopping just off its log (it serves as a pendant to the Solitary Leap of three days ago :) We were again at Fort River; the most notable other birds were a scarlet tanager pair (high and not camera-cooperative). In the evening we looked at the images from our trip to Hungary and Slovakia in late June 2017 (beginning here), focusing particularly on the numerous butterflies we saw. That served as initial preparation for a July trip we'll be taking to the Vercors area in France, which also will feature butterflies.
