Bird Walk, Cerne Abbas

I popped to Shaftesbury this morning as Brigit Strawbridge Howard had a tray of Cosmos for me as a gift for pointing out the rare horned bees at Powerstock Nature Reserve last week . Then it was more gardening .
I left Paul battling the weeds and went on the Bird Walk at Cerne Abbas this afternoon.
We were hoping to see a rare butterfly - The Duke of Burgandy but no luck . However we saw a variety of of orchids and a copper butterfly as well as the common blue . Also we saw a stunning yellowhammer - looked almost exotic .
The slopes are steep under the Giant but well worth searching for plants and butterflies.
