A big day

Off at 6:30 am to catch the first ferry to Barra. First problem there where there was no bus meeting the ferry. We blagged our way on to a school bus and despite here driving hell for leather to try and catch up the proper bus, she failed. However just as she was dropping us off, a car with a friend of hers went past, stopped and was persuaded to give us a lift.
All of which meant we got to Castlebay by 10 am to catch the little boat to an uninhabited Mingulay. Impressive other islands passed and Basking Sharks seen swimming past us and then off onto the island itself, leaping majestically from a dingy to a rocky slope.
A little miscalculation on my part underestimating the going meant we saw a few piles of stones and not much else. Still good to be there and wold recommend the trip.
The return trip went along the high cliffs on the west coast. Auks everywhere, puffins close-by and cliffs festooned with the odd climber. Rather them than me.
Then back to Castlebay and this time the connection worked and we found ourselves back on South Uist at 6:30pm in time for a fish and chip dinner en route to home.
Just enjoying that on the beach, when we got a text asking if a couple could stay the night so back to the house to greet a German duo. A long old day.
