Ladder to Heaven or David’s Harp or more commonly known as Solomon’s Seal.
There are various theories about its name, one being that the plant was used for ‘sealing wounds’ and a poultice made from powdered roots helped to cure bruises and was used by King Solomon of biblical fame.  Another theory is that it comes from the circular scars on the underground rooting stems resembling document seals and apparently if the flower is dipped in ink and pressed on paper it leaves an impression of a six pointed star made up of two interlaced triangles like the Jewish Star of David or Solomon’s Seal.   It didn’t look so good once the sun disappeared and rain set in for much of the day.
