Robin Redbreast

The garden has been busy, busy, busy all day. We had torrential rain in the night and this morning; it must have brought all the juicy bugs and worms to the surface. We watched sparrows, starlings, long-tailed tits, woodpigeons, feral pigeons, blackbirds, great tits, blue tits, robins and squirrels feasting in the garden while we were cooking dunch (dinner + lunch). Then we enjoyed a feast of our own - yum!

The rain cleared long enough for us to walk the block around West Norwood. The road has turned into a stream of water that has rapidly eroded the tarmac and there are some nasty potholes. The cemetery has huge puddles/ponds and quite a few of the gravestones and bushes have toppled in the soft earth. It's a constant battle in this clay soil. Still, this is only a small amount of damage compared to what others have suffered this festive season. My thoughts are with those who don't have a warm, dry home this Christmas.
