singing bowls

The first day of our exciting weekend started at 5 o'clock this afternoon. Today we were indoors, but for the next three days we will be outside in the beautiful gardens of Allanton Peace Sanctuary, forging our singing bowls.

We met Heather and Gabriella from Resounding Earth and they talked us through the process of making a bowl - not only the different metals and shapes, but also the significance of the making for ourselves and for the world.

Uma made us a really delicious meal of Japanese curry followed by rhubarb crumble and custard - all vegan and all very tasty. I tried kombucha for the first time and was surprised how nice it was!

After supper Gabriella and Heather treated us to a sound weaving session, playing beautiful relaxing music on the bowls, bells, gongs, cello and their own voices: "I mould my heart into a bowl, to hold the gift of love.."

I drove home very slowly afterwards :-)

Tomorrow morning we will choose our metal - copper, bronze or brass - and what type of bowl we want to make. Then the alchemy will begin...
