... pages in this novel were just not enough. It came highly recommended and fulfilled its promise - holding my attention when I was supposed to be getting jobs done. I am trying to replicate it by reading another by the same author straight away. 

I did manage to get quite a few jobs done in spite of the distraction, including tidying after the departure of our visitors this morning, cutting the grass and four loads of washing out and dried - though not ironed yet. Bailey has slept through most of the day and was left to his own devices this afternoon when I went to Doddington Hall for cake and a catch-up with a friend. Something we don't manage in term time so it was a good way to spend a couple of hours.
