A View From The Bridge

Today was the day of our Big Train Ride - on the Settle-Carlisle railway, crossing the famous Ribblehead Viaduct and coming back along the Cumbrian coast. It was a fantastic experience, especially in the comfort of the Pullman dining car. We stopped at Appleby in Westmoreland for a break in the middle of the day, when a vintage bus (see extra) was available to take passengers down to the village for a spot of sightseeing. The train backed into the siding at Appleby while the staff set up for dinner on the return journey, so I was able to get a good picture from the footbridge (along with lots of enthusiastic trainspotters!) of it coming back into the station.
