The Guardian

I headed over to Grey's Court today to enjoy the sunshine, view the gardens and hopefully see some Red Kites.  Even better, there was a display of sculptures around  the garden for even more interest.

Walking round the wider estate I spotted a Red Kite riding the thermals. It was heading toward the tall conifers near the house when there was a loud "Caw" and a black crow headed straight for it and chased it away.  The behaviour was repeated - each time the kite headed towards the trees it was chased away despite being the bigger bird.  Kites normally eat small mammals, such as mice, but I guess this one was after chicks, but without much luck due to the deligence of the parent.
