Sark...

..............for the Day

A selection of photos from our day on Sark, Channel Islands

UPDATED with notes added

The passenger ferry service departs from St Peter Port, Guernsey with a journey time of approximately 50 minutes.

There are no cars on the island of Sark. Tractors, horses, bikes and walking are the usual mode of transport.
It is a small island measuring just 3.5 miles by 1.5miles. They have their own government, a school and a resident doctor.

Winston, a local horse with sturdy legs and feet took us on a two hour tour of the island in a carriage - all at a gentle pace allowing us time to listen to the birdsong and the rhythmic clip clop of hooves.

In 2011 Sark was designated the first Dark Sky Island in the world.

The main photo was taken from La Coupée looking down towards La Grand Grève. The clarity and colour of the water was amazing.
