Nesting coot

Popped over to the lake at work first thing this morning with my camera.Was hoping to catch the swan with the one remaining signet but she was right over the far side of the lake. This lovely coot was sitting on a couple of eggs so hopefully some more chicks soon. Also managed to catch the heron coming into land, although he wasn't really close enough and also what I think is a little grebe in its summer plumage but again it was too far away for a decent picture..... and the male swan was patrolling that side of the lake so I didn't want to get any closer.

Couldn't hang around too long as it started to rain rather hard and I got back to work rather soggy.
