Preparing for flight.

With the dense canopy shrouding the branches of the chestnut tree, current home of the Kestrel family, it is really difficult to spot the fledgelings. This morning they were really high up and it was only when this fledgeling fell onto a lower branch, making quite a racket, that I spotted it. It was still very clumsy as it flapped it wings and tottered along the branch. I came away happy but with an aching neck from peering upwards into the tree for a long time while watching this enchanting scene.
