Flood Alleviation Work

Boxing Day 2015 Hebden Bridge & Mytholmroyd were devastated by flooding.  After a massive clear-up and extensive surveys a Flood Alleviation Scheme was agreed and work began early last year on a £30m scheme. Anyone who has tried to travel on the A646 in the last two years will know the misery the work has caused.  This is what there is behind some of the shuttering - more work (including a bridge replacement) is further upstream.
Hard to remember that this rather benign looking River Calder burst its banks and flooded the church on the right and all other surrounding property.
This Drone footage gives some idea of the scale of the floods - Mytholmroyd is the latter half of the video.
