Orange Hawkweed - also called Devil's Paintbrush!
Very still today - 6 mph wind - and dotted with April showers and a few seconds of sunshine:) This Hawkweed head was unopen (like the unopen bud in the middle) this morning but sprung into more life with each piece of sunshine. This stem has eight blooms on it and some unopen ones hidden - worth a blip, I thought. It really is one of my favourite wild flowers, and it seems to thrive in my gravel! I blip it every year - see here for last year.
