D-Day 75th Aniversary. We Will Remember part 2

Over the 4th and 5th June 1944, American troops of the 4th Division, 7th Corps begin embarking onto landing craft from these specially constructed embarkation ramps, headed for 'Utah' beach in Normandy.

75 years on despite all the elements have thrown at them, and the attempts of councils during the 70's and 80's to demolish them to make way for extension to the marina, they have survived. On the 6th June 2000 they were granted Grade 2 Listed Building status.

What thoughts would have been going through the minds of those boarding those landing craft, many of whom would never return home. It is important that the sacrifices they made should never be forgotten.

WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.
