Remembering Omaha Beach

A neutral blip for the 75th anniversary.  We visited Omaha Beach in March 2015—the beach itself is prosaic, but the extensive cemetery and impressive museum are not.   I’m reminded of Robert Capa, America’s greatest  wartime photographer (in my view), who went ashore with the first boat to land on June 6th 1944 (here is the full story; this features the most dramatic image).  Capa shot four rolls of film, with over 100 images, but all but ten were ruined in processing.   He died ten years later, in 1954 , when he stepped on a land mine while covering the Vietnam War.
