Meconopsis Punicea

This has to be the most unusual Meconopsis poppy that I have ever seen.

According to Google it''s a beautiful rarity from China and best grown annually from seed as the plants die after flowering.

A visit this afternoon to The National Trust Branklyn Garden, a 2 acre hillside garden just on the outskirts of Perth. The garden was created in the 1920s using seeds collected by plant hunters.

Nothing formal about this garden ..... winding paths, stone steps and a wonderful collection of rare species and exotic plants just waiting to be admired by gardeners, botanists and ordinary folk like me.
