We were supposed to be meeting an old schoolfriend in Northumberland for the day but cancelled after seeing the weather forecast of heavy rain, so, managing to avoid a downpour while in the shops, we ended up at Miss Flum's house.
Her garden has taken a battering from the rain but there are still plenty of buds and a few blooms on the poppies, brightening up a dismal day.
