Flaneur

Space Odysseus

We launched into perfect conditions with clear, blue skies and no wind and the islands that we had left behind were scattered constellations amongst the deeper blue seas.

My ancestors had no word for the colour blue - hence Homer’s confusing references to wine-dark seas.

As we climb, the colour of the sky grows deeper and darker. I watch as we sail into the wine-dark skies.
