Pellucid Hoverfly on Hogweed

I started off trying to photo the fly but the plant kind of stole the show. I'd never looked at a Hogweed flower head so closely.

A little round of the valley in flowering season reveals Mouse-ear Hawkweed, Heath Speedwell, Heath Bedstraw and plenty of Tormentil on the sloping grassland.

The Hoverfly is interesting in that its larvae live in bumblebee nests and eat the developing bee larvae. The Hogweed is also interesting in that it makes pretty reasonable eating.
