inspiration all around us

inspired by a train drama

One always anticipates a few problems with Christmas travel. It's often related to the weather and overcrowded trains. This morning, there was ample space on the trains, and the weather was mild, although the previous day's rain had caused a landslide further South.

Our train usually splits at Preston, the front carriages go to Blackpool and the back carriages go to Windermere. Today, unfortunately, the carriages had been coupled up in the wrong order. Neither the train staff, nor the drivers of the two engines knew which parts were going where.

Unfortunately, instead of resolving the problem and then announcing where the passengers should be, a farcical situation developed as passengers swapped from back to front and then front to back. By the time we reached Preston, staff and drivers were surrounded by a very unhappy bunch of passengers. The problem was eventually resolved, and we all returned to our original places.

Someone has some explaining to do!
