Argostoli, Kefalonia

Hello from a very hot and sunny Argostoli, today’s cruise stop.

There’s not a lot of old Argostoli left, as it has been flattened by two earthquakes, 1953 and 2014. The 1953 earthquake measured just under 7 on the Richter scale and destroyed most of the southern part of Kefalonia, raising it by 24 inches in height.

Most recently, the island has gained fame as the setting for Louis Dr Berniere’s novel, Captain Corellis Mandolin.

Highlight of the day was seeing two wild turtles in the sea in the harbour, alas too slow to photograph them.

Anyway, having a great time, Santorini tomorrow. I hope you are having a nice day too.
