Lauterbrunnen

Apparently there are 72 waterfalls in this amazing valley.  They cascade from the massive cliff faces at regular intervals up the valley.

Today the weather was better than predicted so we made a rather late decision to walk from Lauterbrunnen up to Murren.  Murren is perched at the top of the cliffs above the valley and is like the lost world of Conan Doyle with no direct road access.  The only way there is via the cable car or train.  We chose the third way - on foot - which consisted of a  very steep path through woods.  A total of 8 miles and 2800 feet of ascent.   Sadly this doesn't count as a Wainwright but we felt we had deserved a beer before descending via the cable car.

Weather was good until we got back to the campsite when it reverted to torrential downpour.  Still,  we made the best of today and it is forecast to be good tomorrow.

Extra shows a friend we made on the way up
