Proud mama of Tbilisi

We were off at 8.15 for the journey down the mountain. The storm had brought a lot of rockfalls but the road was passable.

On reaching Tbilisi we were dropped for a city walking tour around the old part. We visited the Church of Metecki, the Sioni Cathedral, the seminary where Stalin studied to be a priest before he changed course, the puppet theatre, shows sadly booked months in advance, then had a salad and a very welcome cold beer. We had a good look round the State museum which was well laid out with both Georgian and English captions, but we were too hot to really take it in, as the temperature was 42, 107F.

We are in a pleasant little hotel with aircon (which isn’t doing much at the moment) in the old town, and though it would be good to take a walk round the quirky old streets, I doubt we can bear the thought of melting further.

This proud mama was happy to show me her baby all dressed up in her best.
