Drowned valley...

A quieter day was in order - the excesses of yesterday and a developing sniffle made me feel definitely under par. Once again we had several hours of heavy rain, but this eventually cleared and we headed out before dusk to see the extent of the flooding. The levels are now as high as they were at the end of November and still rising, judging by the water pouring over the river bank into the surrounding meadows. Even areas above the flood are saturated by surface water and many paths are impassable. This abstract image was taken from the parking area at Ferry Bridge, and gives a good impression of the extent of the flood across the valley. When will it end?
