The Taggart House

It has been a full on day, beginning in Boston where Margaret, Jen, Becky and I were all up at 5 am, having spent disturbed nights! Once the men were up we drove to Becky and Rob’s new apartment for breakfast and then it was time to disperse for wedding food and drink shopping. The men were assigned to drink and meat whilst the women filled the boot of the car with all manner of deliciousness for wedding cakes, wedding luncheon and meals for our extended weekend.

A quick lunch and we were off in two cars in the pouring rain on a gruelling journey fraught with bad weather and traffic holdups to arrive in the Berkshire Hills at this most splendid Taggart House, our base for the wedding.

This evening we dined at The Inn on the Green and were treated to the most delicious of meals in a candlelit room. There was much telling of stories and revisiting shared memories and laughter.

If I say that whilst writing this, the boys are playing billiards and that our bedroom is at the top of the servants’ stairs, it will give you some indication of the size of this house! Cluedo scenarios abound! It is a historic building with extensive grounds and just perfect for the forthcoming nuptials. We have the full run of the place with eventually twelve of us staying here and two others in an Airbnb not far away.

Tomorrow it is food preparation, last minute shopping and flower collection.
