Hon in Edinburgh

Ollie the dog

My wife had a bit of the cold and wanted a lie in this morning. So only time for another visit to Inverleith Park this time with this bread-stuff for the kids to throw at the birds.

After more frustrating unfocussed pictures of birds in flight, we saw this dog apparently enjoying one of the mega-puddles in Inverleith Park. There have been so much rainfall that these puddles are turning into a permanent feature and will probably acquire 'loch' status in a few months' time. They were also the reason Inverleith Park was cancelled as a venue for people wanting to watch the Edinburgh Festival fireworks this summer. I'm sure the same fate will await those hoping to watch the Hogmanay fireworks there as well. Anyway, while Ollie was clearly enjoying the freezing cold water, his owner was less enamoured at this situation and had ran out of ideas and projectiles with which to cajole him onto dry land. He said he was going to wade in and drag him out, but after dipping in his toes decided instead to wait in his car until the dog came to his senses. I can't say I blame him; even our wellies-shod kids had self-inflicted soggy socks and feet.
