Now, as I see it......

Tynemouth

The weather was supposed to be better today. Supposed to be....

We got the Metro to Tynemouth where it was raining. A walk down to the north pier at the mouth of the Tyne where I took this shot and one of the extras, and then back around the town. I'd heard of a place on the beach, Riley's Fish Shack, which was supposed to be good so we aimed there for lunch. What a find! Tiny, so if you want to eat inside you need to be there early. Inside there are three high benches, each with a wood burning stove at the end, and another stove outside. We ordered our food, both having the same thing, and when it arrived it was clear they had made a mistake and only ordered one portion between us. Frankly, it was a good thing! The portion was massive and entirely adequate for the two of us to share. I've added a couple of extras of the restaurant; a great place to eat.

There had been a torrential rain storm while we were inside but by the time we left the sun was just trying to poke through. The plan had been to walk up the coast to Whitley Bay and have a look round but we got as far as Cullercoats before the heavens opened again so we headed back to the Metro and got the train back to the hotel.
