Spot the Star! Or is it a Planet?

Penny reports reports from her balcony in Guangzhou: "Beautifully clear night from the balcony - overlooking the opera house with the canton tower in the background. AND, if you look very closely, there is a single star! This never happens!!" It never happens because of the smog. And is it a star or is it a planet?
