The Phoenix

The Phoenix pub, St Helens. Still going strong though her busy days when Pilkington's Watson Street works used to kick out at the end of shift are long gone.

It's still got its coach and horses yard and what's left of the stables, one of the old style pubs that are rapidly disappearing all over the country; they're being turned into flats/apartments or being demolished because you can get several houses just on the pub's footprint alone, never mind car park or bowling green.

They'll all soon be gone (or Wetherspoons). Got to love what the liberalisation of the licensing laws meant to supermarkets' sales of booze. Ah, well, never mind; the only constant is change, as they say.
