Carlsbad and Oceanside today

Turned out to be a very pleasant day. Went down to Carlsbad for a coffee and chat in Carlsbad Village Centre at a cafe we’ve been to many times before.

It was US national Flag Day today, first established in 1916 and established by Congress in 1946 it is a day to venerate Old Glory, the US flag.

In Carlsbad Village, a musician had been hired to play patriotic songs and tunes. She also played our national anthem so I went to thank her and had quite an interesting conversation about a variety of musical topics.

From there we took a walk in the bright sunshine and gentle breezes along the Carlsbad State Beach. Loads of people out enjoying the sunny weather.

A bit of a rush to get back from Carlsbad, freshen up and get to Oceanside for 5.00pm for an early dinner with all the family. After they’d departed we had a stroll along Oceanside’s pier in the crisp evening light. Not quite the weather for a perfect Pacific sunset as there was a bank of cloud out over the ocean.
