Goodnight Ted

It's been a tear-filled morning. We woke to find our lovely 19 year old cat had died.

Yesterday evening, his breath became laboured and we were up early today to take him to the vet, knowing that it would be his last trip. Sadly, he died in the early hours in our kitchen, at his drinking bowl. He had arthritis, kidney problems, two tumours (the vet wouldn't remove them because he wouldn't survive the anaesthetic), cloudy eyes, hardly any teeth, and he had become very incontinent. Even so, he still used to like to take a 5 minute walk around the garden.

On Christmas Day, Ted was treated with turkey by a naughty Nonna, who fed him under the table. He had a good innings, and this photo of him shows him in his prime, about 18 months old. He's been the star of a few of my blips - always obliging, and always gorgeous. He's now at rest in the garden, buried under the lawn.

What a fabulous pet he's been! I'll miss you old fella.
