Broad-bordered Bee Hawk-moth

Today has involved a lot of driving following which we have ended up about 20 miles from where we were yesterday.

During a lovely drive over the Col de Perty with views of Mont Ventoux we came across a lot of these Hawk Moths feeding off the thistle flowers.

I had better shots of the wings but I liked this one because it was sharp and the proboscis was neatly coiled. Best viewed large.

Our lunch picnic was somewhat spoiled by 4 Dutch motorcyclists who stopped right in front of our motorhome door where we were eating our lunch and then proceeded to relieve themselves right in front of us. They were virtually the only people we saw
