Fringilla coelebs

What would have made a great picture today was Polly at the park with her Westie friends, Henry, Molly and Matilda, who my regular reader may recall we used to know over the common. Happily, they are also walking at the park now and it was really nice for us all to catch up. I was so busy chatting that I forgot to take any pictures.

Fortunately, a quick sit out in the garden just now and along came this chaffinch: a very underrated bird, if you ask me. They have the most beautiful song which, unfortunately, resulted in them being very popular as caged birds in the past (and still does, unfortunately, in some countries).
