Pooh Corner

The gruesome weather continues to overshadow everything making inspiration for blipping pretty near impossible. We are, however, the lucky ones and it's just incredibly soggy, grey and miserable, so when the opportunity arose to go the the local DIY shop some 3 miles away I suggested a detour to the village of Hartfield in East Sussex. Here is the famous shop at Pooh Corner which is now up for sale as the owners are retiring. Whether it remains as a shop only time will tell but at least it gave me inspiration when I needed it.
The real Christopher Robin Milne wrote about his childhood in his book The Enchanted Places' and talks about his trips to the village with his Nanny and their visit to the Pooh Corner shop for bulls-eyes:
"Subsequent trips included our weekly visit to Hartfield, a mile away along a main road, up a steep hill, down a steep hill and in at the first shop on the left hand side. Jessica needed no urging and the woman behind the counter no instructions. It was a pennyworth of bullseyes for each of us."
