All that glitters is not gold

Hello Readers,

Well my new (to me) old (to someone else) camera arrived... It was a purchase from eBay and marked as spare or repair as battery missing and cannot test.

The seller was a major UK charity and i hoped they would not want to give me a heart attack (clue there) by selling me a dud.

So i popped a fully charges battery in it... took a deep breathe and pressed the on button... Well i can take photos as the one above shows... The zoom the main reason i purchased it for seems to work fine...
Connects to PC to download photos all good.

Now for the BUT and it is quite an annoying BUT the LCD touch screen on the back does not work... Well that's not quite true... most of it is a blue colour the left 3 mm is fine...

You can display all the menu items on the viewfinder but it is quite hard work setting anything that way and obviously you cannot review your photos on the main screen.

So what next? Well i still have quite a lot of wiggle room on the price so i think i can have the screen replaced and still be around or slightly under the average price of a known fully working one.

I think i will mess around with it for a couple of weeks (albeit hard work driving from the viewfinder) and see if there are any other issues and then see if i should try and resuscitate this old girl...

If anyone has any recommendations of camera repairers they have used i would be grateful for the details.
