Eine Himbeere/A Raspberry

There are suddenly a lot of ripe raspberries in our garden.  This may have a lot to do with the unrelenting sunshine and the disappearance of the ugly hedge.

We were supposed to have a thunderstorm today but we've had oppressive heat instead.

Oh and a good thing.  I was introduced to another one of those figures of speech that cannot be translated 1:1 into English.  I was called "ein toller Hecht".  I do not believe that it was meant in the sense that dict.cc says it means ("a stunner" as in a good looking man).  More in the sense that I'm quite good at what I do.  Especially if I get a bit of time.  A project just made an enormous amount of progress because I could spend 90 minutes uninterrupted.  That means my colleagues on that project can really crack on - this pleases me no end.

Oh and if you're interested a 1:1 translation would be "a great pike", as in the fish. No idea where that comes from.
