The Old Forge (Wednesday 19th June 2019)

Today was the first Gardening Wednesday in a fortnight due to the pummelling rains of last week and so Refna returned to find the woodland garden had gone berserk in the interim and was busy cutting it all back. Despite dark clouds the rain held off so we were also able to have coffee at the glass-topped table in the garden.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Lush - Ladykillers (recorded July-August 1995, Protocol Studios, London)
Lush were one of the best shoegazing bands of the early nineties, warm and witty with catchy tunes. I bought a lot of their singles and EPs but somehow never acquired their fourth and final album Lovelife, which included 500 (Shake Baby Shake), Single Girl and Ladykillers, which a had a particularly accurate and acerbic lyric by Miki Berenyi and some nifty handclapping. I ordered the album online recently for a rather reasonable 89 pence and played it through when it arrived today - a most enjoyable 45 minutes.
